How to acquire and use USUAL

This article covers the three ways to get USUAL — buy, earn, and receive — and what you can do with it once you hold it.

Three ways to get USUAL

1. Buy on an exchange

USUAL is listed on major centralized and decentralized exchanges:

  • Binance — spot market (USUAL/USDT, USUAL/BTC)

  • Coinbase — spot market

  • OKX — spot market

  • Uniswap — on-chain DEX (USUAL/USDC, USUAL/ETH pairs)

  • Curve and other DEXs — various pairs

Steps on a centralized exchange:

  1. Create an account

  2. Complete KYC

  3. Deposit USDT or another supported asset

  4. Trade for USUAL

  5. Withdraw USUAL to your Usual account to stake or use in governance

Steps on a DEX:

  1. Connect your account to the DEX

  2. Select USUAL as the target token

  3. Confirm the swap

  4. USUAL appears in your account

2. Earn USUAL by using the platform

Using Usual earns you USUAL automatically through the daily emission schedule:

Activity

How you earn USUAL

Hold bUSD0

Daily coupon from the bTOKEN bucket

Hold ETH0

Daily coupon from the bTOKEN bucket

Provide liquidity

LP rewards bucket

Stake USUAL into USUALx

Staking rewards bucket

The USUAL you earn accrues in a claimable balance in the app. You can claim at any time.

3. Receive via airdrops and incentives

The DAO occasionally runs airdrops and targeted incentive campaigns. These are announced through:

  • The Usual blog

  • Official Discord and X accounts

  • Governance forum (UIPs related to incentives)

What to do with your USUAL

Stake into USUALx

The most common use. Staking USUAL into USUALx earns:

  • A share of the daily USUAL emission (from the USUALx bucket)

  • A share of protocol revenue (in USD0, weekly)

  • Governance voting power

Participate in governance

USUAL is a voting token. You can vote on UIPs (Usual Improvement Proposals) directly — or via USUALx, which has additional voting power. Voting is done through the Usual governance interface. See How voting works.

Hold as an ownership stake

If you believe in the long-term direction of Usual, holding USUAL is a direct ownership position. As platform revenue grows and the distribution period ends, the value per USUAL is designed to be driven by fundamentals, not by emissions.

Sell on secondary markets

If you need liquidity, you can always sell USUAL on the same exchanges where you can buy it.

Gas and transaction costs

  • Buying USUAL on a DEX costs gas on the chain you use

  • Staking USUAL into USUALx costs gas (one transaction)

  • Voting costs gas per vote

  • All USUAL transactions on Ethereum are standard ERC-20 — typical gas costs apply

A note on security

  • Never share your recovery phrase. Usual support will never ask for it.

  • Verify the contract address before interacting: USUAL = 0xC4441c2BE5d8fA8126822B9929CA0b81Ea0DE38E.

  • Use official links — always start from app.usual.money or docs.usual.money.

  • Phishing sites are common. Bookmark the official URLs.

Note: USUAL is a volatile asset. The price can move significantly. If you need a stable balance, hold USD0 or EUR0 instead. Use USUAL for ownership and governance exposure.

Technical note (for DeFi users): USUAL is an ERC-20 at 0xC4441c2BE5d8fA8126822B9929CA0b81Ea0DE38E on Ethereum. Listed on Binance, Coinbase, OKX (spot) and Uniswap, Curve, 1inch, aggregators. Staking into USUALx uses 0x06B964d96f5dCF7Eae9d7C559B09EDCe244d4B8E. See the docs for the full list of supported venues.
