Usual is a DeFi bank with a full stack of financial tools: currencies, savings, credit. This article helps you pick the right product in two minutes.
Three pillars
Pillar | You want to... | Use |
Currencies & Deposits | Hold dollars or euros you own | USD0, EUR0 |
Investment | Grow your balance at a real rate | sUSD0, sEUR0, bUSD0, USD0 Alpha |
Credit | Borrow against what you own | Usual Credit |
Currencies & Deposits
For: anyone who wants to hold dollars or euros, with the backing fully visible.
Products:
USD0 — the dollar balance. Backed 1-to-1 by US Treasury Bills. Deposit USDC, receive USD0.
EUR0 — the euro balance. Backed by European Treasury Bills. Same model, euros.
When to use: You want a stable balance that never depends on a bank's solvency. You want to move value between accounts or chains without giving up control.
Investment
For: anyone with a balance who wants it to grow.
Product | Risk | Rate source | When to use |
sUSD0 | Low | US Treasury Bills | Simple, steady rate on USD0 |
sEUR0 | Low | European Treasury Bills | Same for EUR0 |
bUSD0 | Low–medium | Protocol revenue + Treasury Bills | Higher rate, fixed maturity |
USD0 Alpha | Medium | Market-neutral basis strategy | Higher rate, delta-neutral |
When to use: Your capital is idle. You want it to earn a real rate tied to real assets, not speculation.
Credit
For: anyone who owns assets and wants cash without selling them.
Product:
Usual Credit — borrow USD0 against your collateral at a fixed cost. You know what you owe at the start.
When to use: You hold ETH, staked ETH, or stablecoins and need liquidity without closing your position.
Decision shortcuts
If you... | Start with |
...just want a stable balance you control | USD0 |
...want your dollars to earn a rate | sUSD0 |
...want a higher rate and can lock for a period | bUSD0 |
...want exposure to the platform's growth | USUAL (ownership token) |
...want to borrow against your assets | Usual Credit |
...hold euros instead of dollars | EUR0 → sEUR0 |
Note: Every product is backed by real assets. Every balance is verifiable. The app displays the current rate, the backing, and the risk profile of every product before you confirm anything.
Technical note (for DeFi users): USD0 and EUR0 are minted against RWA collateral (USYC, USTBL, EUTBL). sUSD0 and sEUR0 are ERC-4626 savings vaults. bUSD0 is a liquid bond token (formerly USD0++, renamed via UIP-12). USD0 Alpha runs a delta-neutral cash-and-carry strategy. Usual Credit is powered by Fira's fixed-rate lending infrastructure. See the docs for contract addresses and technical specs.
